The bay of Algeciras is a nature
reserve park. That´s why you can find all kind
of aninals inside, from little bleenis or nudi
brancs up to huge whales. Here is a small excerpt
of all dive sites:
Algeciras Bay: The wreck of
the "GREEN BEANS""
Depth: 6 - 12 m
A very easy divesite.
The 100m wreck is often flooded with sunbeams
and the home of congereels spidercrabs and big
schools of fish.
Algeciras Bay: Punta Carnero
Depth: 15 - 25 m
Punta Carnero is the western corner of the bay
of Algeciras. You can find conger- and morray
eels, squid and beautiful seafans in all colours.
Algeciras Bay: Las Bajas
Depth: 17 - 52 m
Las Bajas is about 1,5 Meilen southwest of Punta
Carnera inside the open water of the strait
of Gibraltar. Because of the strong surface
currents it is recommended only for experienced
divers. But they are rewaded with a beautiful
underwater landscape with caves, overhangs and
canyons huge amounts of fish and sometimes with
dolphins.
Algeciras Bay: La Perla
Depth: 8 - 28 m
La Perla is a big plateau in the open water
of the strait, which surfaces to 8m. Fantastic
Flora with seafan and big schools of fish. Because
of the strong surface currents it is also recommended
only for experienced divers.
Algeciras Bay: Isla de
Las Palomas
Depth: 5 - 25 m
On the southern side if the little rock we find
beautiful walls covered with seafan and sponges.
The island is close to the mainland, that´s
why there are hardly currents and it is ideal
for divers with fewer experience.
This is how we organize the trip:
9:00 am we start with our bus at the dive
center and leave for Algeciras. We arrive at the
jetty in Algeciras at 9:20, where the boat is
already waiting.
We assemble the equipment, change and go for
the first dive site which is max 20 minutes away.
After the first dive we choose a quiet bay for
lunch. After lunch we change tanks and head for
the second dive site. After the second dive we
drive back to the jetty where we unload and disassemble.
We are back at the DC at about 15:00 pm.
